Lesson's Learned
Surviving to Thriving
“Lessons Learned” is a triumph of resilience and the winning fight against adversity. Through Lynn’s songs and the telling of her life story as a survivor of abuse, she captivates the audience and inspires us all. Sympathy is not the overwhelming emotion the audience experiences but rather we find ourselves cheering Lynn on and celebrating her journey towards healing and thriving. Her ability to share her experiences with strength and vulnerability is a testament to her indomitable spirit and serves as a powerful reminder that we, too, can overcome any obstacles that come our way. Her performance is a beacon of hope and a reminder that we should never give up, no matter what challenges we face.
What does a composer and lyricist want from a music director on a show? You want, really… you need, both an advocate for all of your original notes and words, and at the same time, a collaborator: someone who will take your original work and mold it to the needs of the current production. That is Lynn Flickinger. She is tenaciously protective of the original score and text. And at the same time, she is aware of her surroundings. By that I mean, the strengths and weaknesses of the cast, the production and the orchestra. She is adaptive. She is exactly what any composer wants for his show. Certainly , what this composer wants for his show.
